ESPN Mobile TV Also With Live Coverage; ESPN.com Revamps Poker Site, Features Chance to Win Seat In Main Event

For the first time ever, ESPN360.com will provide live coverage of 24 bracelet events from the 2008 World Series of Poker, and has also reached an agreement with Bluff Media to provide live streaming coverage of next year’s 2009 World Series of Poker. ESPN Mobile TV, the 24/7 mobile video network, will also provide select live coverage. In addition, ESPN360.com and ESPN Mobile TV will cover September’s World Series of Poker Europe as well as select 2008-2009 World Series of Poker Circuit Events.  

Beginning June 6 at 6:00 p.m. ET, the signature ESPN broadband network will cover each event live, in their entirety - straight through to July 2.  The events will range in length, with live coverage continuing until the final flop. ESPN Mobile TV will feature live coverage of select events.  Additionally ESPN.com’s World Series of Poker page (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/poker/wsop) will feature original content and video to supplement ESPN’s broadband, mobile and TV coverage of the World Series of Poker.

ESPN Poker Offers Enhanced Game, Chance At Seat In Main Event

In addition to its live broadband and mobile coverage, ESPN has enhanced its ESPN Poker site (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/poker/index) and online game, ESPN Poker Club, with a complete redesign, enhanced game play and easier navigation. For the fourth year in a row offers fans a chance to win a seat at the main event of the world’s largest poker tournament. Fans can play everyday to earn points for Sunday Qualifier tournaments online. If a player finishes in the top 25 in any Sunday Qualifier, they will be eligible for the final tournament. The winner of the final tournament wins the trip to the Main Event.

ESPN.com’s free online poker game is for users over the age of 21 and allows poker aficionados of every skill level to play free, competitive poker against other ESPN Poker players at online poker tables in single- and multi-table tournaments.  More than half a million players already choose from six different games:  Texas Hold’Em, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Hi/Lo, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo and 5 Card Stud. 

 

ESPNdeportes.com offers the same free online game to Spanish-speaking poker fans.

 

ESPN Poker also features a robust collection of editorial content including news, tips, analysis and more. The ESPN MVP on Verizon Wireless will feature news coverage, video shorts, and customizable alerts, and ESPN will also showcase coverage of the event in the “hot corner” section of its mobile Web (WAP) site.
