ESPN’S BILL HOFHEIMER HONORED AT 2008 CABLE FAXIES AWARD CEREMONY

PR Executive of the Year Finalist for Efforts on Monday Night Football

Bill Hofheimer, ESPN’s senior director of communications, was a finalist for PR Executive of the Year at the 2008 CableFAXIE Awards. Hofheimer was announced as a finalist by legendary newscaster Dan Rather at the awards ceremony earlier this month in Washington, D.C. The award honors those in the industry who apply creativity while maintaining an emphasis on best business practices. Hofheimer was nominated for his management of publicity for ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

Hofheimer has been instrumental in creating tangible “buzz” around ESPN’s NFL coverage, including Monday Night Football which became the most watched series in cable television history in 2007. Hofheimer managed the media and public positioning surrounding commentators, designed and spearheaded the implementation of the Monday Night Football publicity plan, and oversaw media coverage opportunities in NFL cities across the United States.

Prior to joining ESPN in July 2005, Hofheimer worked in public relations at Disney World’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., where he oversaw publicity for such events as the Atlanta Braves spring training and Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camps.

A native of Richmond, Va. and an alumnus of The Collegiate Schools, Hofheimer was graduated from the University of Virginia in 1994 with a bachelor of arts in rhetoric & communication studies. He and his family currently reside in Avon, Conn.
