Media Advisory -- ESPN on ABC Indianapolis 500 Media Conference Call

3 P.M. ET TUESDAY, MAY 20

ESPN on ABC Indianapolis 500 Media Conference Call
ABC’s 44th Year at the Greatest Spectacle in Racing

WITH:

  • JED DRAKE: Senior Vice President & Executive Producer
  • MARTY REID: Lead announcer
  • SCOTT GOODYEAR: Analyst, 12-time Indy 500 starter
  • EDDIE CHEEVER: Analyst, 1998 Indy 500 winner

The unification of American open wheel racing, Danica Patrick’s historic IndyCar Series win and Helio Castroneves’ victory in ABC’s Dancing With the Stars are some of the reasons that interest in the upcoming Indianapolis 500 is strong.

ESPN on ABC’s live, high definition telecast of the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500 is the highlight of ESPN’s multi-platform coverage of The Month of May at Indy. The race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be run on Sunday, May 25, with ABC’s telecast to start at noon ET, following a one-hour pre-race on ESPN2. ABC is covering the Indianapolis 500 for the 44th year in 2008, extending the second-longest relationship in television history between a sporting event and television network. Weekend coverage of the Masters has been on CBS for 53 years.

Marty Reid will be ESPN on ABC’s lead announcer for Indianapolis coverage, joined in the booth for analysis by former IndyCar Series driver Scott Goodyear and 1998 Indianapolis 500 winner Eddie Cheever. Jack Arute, Jamie Little, Brienne Pedigo and Vince Welch will report the action from the pits, while Brent Musburger will host the race telecast.
