ESPN Providing Worldwide Television Syndication for NASCARIn a strategy to continue to expand international television distribution of NASCAR, ESPN International is the exclusive worldwide syndication agent for NASCAR outside of North America. ESPN International is handling the worldwide television syndication rights for NASCAR and helping to identify broadcast partnerships on a country-by-country basis. NASCAR and ESPN are leveraging their combined resources to expand the scope and reach of NASCAR coverage. ESPN International is one of the leading syndicators of sports programming throughout the world and this relationship is helping maximize coverage of NASCAR's three major national series - the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series - and provide a solid base of distribution. With international racing stars Dario Franchitti of Scotland and Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Carpentier of Canada joining Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this season, international interest is at an all-time high. "It is tremendously exciting for ESPN International to be selling such a high quality, dynamic sports product as NASCAR," said Murray Barnett, vice president, TV Sales EMEA and Head of International Syndication Sales for ESPN. "We believe that ESPN International and NASCAR are a perfect match for the development of NASCAR's already impressive international TV distribution." With a 10-month racing season, the longest of any major North American sport, NASCAR provides broadcasters with the most competitive series in all of motorsports and dedicated viewers from February to November. The power of the NASCAR brand, the sport's unique side-by-side racing and athletes viewed by fans as genuine and accessible, combined with a strong global interest in motorsports, positions NASCAR as one of the leading sports entertainment properties in the world.
