The 39th season of Monday Night Football will open on ESPN with a nationally televised doubleheader Monday, Sept. 8 – Minnesota at Green Bay (7 p.m. ET) and Denver at Oakland (10:15 p.m.) – and will continue with a total of 17 primetime games. ESPN’s schedule will feature 11 playoff teams from 2007, including both the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants and AFC champion New England Patriots. |

Season-Opening Doubleheader AnnouncedESPN’s Monday Night Football will kickoff its 39th season with a nationally televised doubleheader on Monday, September 8 – Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers (7 p.m. ET) and Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders (10:15 p.m.). The commentator team of Mike Tirico (play-by-play) and analysts Ron Jaworski and Tony Kornheiser will call the early game at Lambeau Field, marking ESPN’s first visit to the famed stadium for a MNF game. Monday Night Football: Most-Watched Series On CableESPN’s second season of Monday Night Football was the most-watched series on cable television in 2007, set an all-time viewership record and drew the four biggest cable household audiences and 16 of the top 20 this year. In two seasons on ESPN, Monday Night Football has registered nine of the top 10 all-time biggest household audiences in cable history, led by the Patriots-Ravens telecast earliest this month, which attracted cable’s largest household audience ever.
