Tim Scanlan is a senior coordinating producer in ESPN’s remote production department, overseeing Major League Baseball, as well the College World Series and the Little League World Series. He is also responsible for soccer, including Major League Soccer, U.S. men’s and women’s team telecasts, and all FIFA events highlighted by the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He joined the network in February 1996. In 1997, Scanlan also served as a coordinating producer at ESPN's inaugural Winter X Games. While at ESPN, Scanlan won a 2003 Emmy Award for Technical Achievement with ESPN’s K Zone. He also won two 1997 CableACE Awards, for Sunday Night Baseball and the Jackie Robinson Anniversary game. Prior to joining ESPN, Scanlan worked for Midwest Sports Channel as executive producer of live events (1992-97), which included Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Timberwolves, University of Minnesota athletics and Western College Hockey Association (WCHA) tournament broadcasts. He won two 1995 Midwest Regional Emmys – for Timberwolves games (live series) and the WCHA tournament (live event). During the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics, Scanlan was associate director of ice hockey for CBS. A native of St. Paul, Minn., Scanlan graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of arts in journalism/speech communication in 1985. - 30 - |
