Rachel Nichols joined ESPN in February 2004 as a New York City-based reporter, covering breaking news stories and major events, as well as providing investigative pieces and human-interest features. She is also a correspondent for E:60, ESPN’s first multi-themed prime-time newsmagazine program, which debuts Tuesday, Oct. 16. Nichols began working on SportsCenter, Outside the Lines and ESPNEWS and has expanded her role to include weekly NFL features and reports for ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown. Prior to joining ESPN on a full-time basis, Nichols was a reporter for the Washington Post (1996-2004) and the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel (1995-96). She has also served as a freelance reporter for ESPN, and made appearances on CNN, MSG, Comcast, Sunshine Network and NBA TV. Nichols, a native of Potomac, Maryland, received a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Northwestern University in 1995. She is married to a record executive at Jive records. - 30 - |
