Mike Massaro

NASCAR Pit Reporter

Mike Massaro, an award-winning reporter for NASCAR and other sports for SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, ESPNEWS, ESPN Radio and other multi-platform programming, has been with ESPN since 2001. He joined a seasoned group of hosts, analysts and fellow pit reporters for ESPN and ABC’s 2007 multi-platform coverage.

Massaro previously served as a reporter for ESPN’s motorsports news program RPM2Night. 

Exposed to motorsports as a child, Massaro often watched his father enjoy one of his greatest hobbies - modifying race cars.

After college, his first sportscasting position was the public address announcer at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Conn., and a year later was promoted to PR director where he served from 1995 to 1997. In 1997, he became a reporter for MRN Radio and remained there until 2000. At the same time, Massaro reported for Inside NASCAR on TNN, and was a pit reporter for NBC Sports’ and TBS Sports’ races.

Massaro received the NMPA Award for best television feature in 1999 on “How MRN Broadcasts Races” and in 2000 received the NMPA Award and Russ Catlin Motorsports Journalism Award for best television feature for a piece on the late Dale Earnhardt. In 2005, Massaro repeated his success with the NMPA and a Russ Catlin Motorsports Award for a television piece entitled “Cheat to Win.”

Massaro received his bachelor’s of science degree in speech from Emerson College in Boston in 1992.
