ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network, named Lowell Galindo as its new signature anchor in August 2007. Galindo anchors ESPNU's studio programming from Charlotte, N.C., headquarters of ESPN Regional Television (ERT) which handles the primary production responsibilities for ESPNU. His assignments include hosting stand-alone specials and studio shows such as SportsCenterU, ESPNU Inside The Polls, ESPNU Coaches Spotlight and ESPNU Recruiting Insider. In addition, Galindo’s responsibilities will include pre-game shows, halftimes and postgame hosting duties for many of ESPNU’s live events. Galindo was already featured on ESPNU in early August for its college football media day coverage. He returned to the air in mid-August as the host of ESPNU’s college football conference preview shows alongside analysts Todd McShay and Tom Luginbill. Prior to joining ESPNU, Galindo worked as a sports reporter and producer for WTTG-TV (Washington, D.C.), WWSB-TV (Sarasota, Fla.) and KSNF-TV (Joplin, Mo.). He also served as an intern for ESPN in 2002. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Galindo was graduated from Emerson College in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. -30- |
