Jimmy Dykes joined ESPN with the start of the 1995-96 men’s college basketball season as a game analyst. In his current role, he primarily calls Mountain West games, the third contest in ESPN’s Big Monday tripleheader, and occasionally provides studio analysis. Dykes also has worked for ABC/Raycom Sports, Prime Network and the Arkansas Razorback Network. A 1985 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a degree in speech education, Dykes was a student manager for the men’s basketball team before walking on to the team. He lettered three seasons (1982-84) under then-coach Eddie Sutton. From 1986 to ’92, Dykes served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Arkansas, Appalachian State, Kentucky, Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock and Oklahoma State. He was a college scout for the Seattle Supersonics during the 1991-92 season, as well. Currently, Dykes also serves as athletic director for Shiloh Christian High School in Arkansas. A Tulsa, Okla. native, Dykes was a standout athlete at Estes Park (Colo.) High School before his family relocated to Fayetteville, Ark. In 2001, Dykes was named to People Magazine’s “America’s Top 50 Bachelors” List. - 30 - |
