Bio

 

Michael B. Fox

Vice President, Worldwide Advertising Sales, ESPN International


Michael B. Fox was named Vice President, Worldwide Advertising Sales, ESPN International in April 1998.  He is based in ESPN’s New York City offices and reports directly to Mark Reilly, Vice President and General Manager of International Sales, ESPN, Inc.

 

Fox oversees ESPN’s international advertising sales offices in Miami, New York, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and São Paulo and advertising sales representatives in Rome, Johannesburg, Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul, and Caracas.  Fox also serves as the sales liaison to ESPN’s Asian joint venture with STAR Television, ESPN Star Sports. 

 

In April 2000, Fox assumed the responsibility for directing the sale of advertising on ESPN’s Spanish-language website, ESPNdeportes.com.

 

Prior to being named vice president, Fox served as Director of ESPN’s international advertising department from 1994-1997, where he was responsible for advertising sales for ESPN’s networks in Latin America, Europe, and Asia.  Fox joined ESPN International in 1992 as Director, International Sales for Latin America, selling the Latin American network to cable systems in Mexico, Central America, Venezuela, and the Caribbean.  He eventually established ESPN’s international advertising department.  Fox first joined ESPN in 1988 as Manager, Sales Planning and Analysis for ESPN’s U.S.-based networks.

 

Fox began his career in advertising in 1985 at Foote, Cone and Belding, Inc. in New York where he worked in the national broadcast department on accounts including Colgate, Palmolive, Mazda Motors, Coors Beer, and Orion Pictures.

 

Fox has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Television Association of Programmers, Latin America (TAP), an industry group focusing on governmental, advertising, and marketing issues affecting U.S.-based multichannel networks in the region.  Fox also has held executive board positions at MAB International.

 

A native of Bellmore, NY, Fox graduated from Hofstra University with a B.S.  degree in business administration.
